You can always go the well-worn path with the likes of the Black Keys, White Stripes, Gary Clark, and ZZ Top. As a metal guy, you likely know about Clutch (From Beal Street to Oblivion, Earth Rocker and Blast Tyrant are my favorites).

Some newer, less well known bands I really dig are The Record Company and The Stone Foxes. The Dead Weather have some strong stuff too.
