Weeks 1 & 2 - Master the Minor
Stop playing the same handful of licks and learn how to create magic with the minor pentatonic scale. During the first 2 weeks of the programme, you’ll learn:
- How to master techniques like bending, slides and double stops
- Ways of easily connecting pentatonic shapes, so you can break out of shapes 1 & 2 and move freely all over the fretboard
- The intervals in the minor pentatonic scale, and how you can create beautiful licks that manipulate tension and resolution by targeting each of the notes in the scale

Weeks 3 & 4 - Solo like the pros
There’s nothing worse than playing a solo that sounds just like a random collection of licks. In weeks 3 and 4 you’ll learn the soloing frameworks that the pros use to create amazing and engaging solos, every single time. Here’s what we’ll cover:
- How to solo for minutes on end without sounding boring or repetitive

Weeks 5 & 6 - Mix in the major

To add warmth to your lead playing and recreate the amazing vibe of players like B.B. King, Peter Green, Eric Clapton and many others, you need to nail the major pentatonic scale. And that’s exactly what we’ll cover in weeks 5 & 6:
- Learn what the major pentatonic scale is, and how it differs from the minor pentatonic
- Understand how you can easily mix the major pentatonic into your playing, all over the fretboard
- The mistakes that stop guitarists from soloing with the major pentatonic scale
- Master the B.B. King Box and play like the King of the Blues!
Weeks 7 & 8 - Play the changes
Learning to play the changes is one of the best ways of immediately giving your playing a sweet and melodic feeling.
It’s also a challenging topic that a lot of guitarists struggle to learn and then use in their solos.
In the final 2 weeks of the programme we’ll break this challenge down step by step so you can start playing the changes straight away. Here’s what we’ll cover:
- How you can transform your solos with just a single note
- The structure of the minor blues, and how to play the changes over the progression
- The structure of the major blues, and how to play the changes over the progression
- Soloing frameworks for nailing the changes every time you play

I designed the Fast Track to help late beginner and early intermediate guitarists transform their solos and improvisations.
If you can play the first and second shapes of the minor pentatonic scale (or you can quickly learn them) and you have some basic technique, then you’re going to love the programme.
We’ll start by helping you create magic in the minor pentatonic scale, before we look at how to construct melodic and interesting solos, then the major pentatonic and finally, how to play the changes.
If you are a total beginner – or if you are already shredding up and down the fretboard – then the Fast Track might not be right for you this time.

Meet the Happy Bluesman 😁
Hello! I’m Aidan, the Happy Bluesman 👋
I first picked up the guitar over 20 years ago, when I was just 12 years old. I saw one of my older brother’s friends playing classic rock and blues riffs, and I was hooked.
I started taking lessons shortly after, and quickly fell in love with the blues.
I can still remember the first time I heard the iconic solos of guitarists like B.B. King, Peter Green, Eric Clapton and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
I knew straight away that I wanted to be able to play in the same vocal and expressive way, and to bring my musical ideas to life on the instrument.
After years gigging and performing as a teenager, I decided to take a totally different professional path – studying English Literature at University and then working in the fast-paced world of tech start ups in London.
But around 10 years ago – with my guitar gathering dust in the corner, I decided that I was done neglecting such an important part of my life.
I dedicated myself to the guitar, putting as much time into it as I could (whilst also working 80 hour work weeks and being on call with clients 24 hours a day) and practicing in every spare moment that I had.
I pushed my playing to a whole new level, quit my job and decided to become a full time bluesman – coaching blues guitarists all over the world, running the Blues Club and spreading the good vibe of the blues.
