The Albert King Box – An Ultimate Guide
Albert King is one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time. He inspired a whole generation of blues guitarists, including most notably, Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Most of Albert King’s iconic guitar solos are played in just a single position of the fretboard, using only 5 notes.
These 5 notes have come to be affectionately named ‘The Albert King Box’.
In this course I run through exactly what the Albert King Box is, how it works, and how you can use it to create solos in the style of Albert King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and others.

What you will learn:
PART 1
In this first lesson we will cover what the Albert King Box is, how it works and how you can practically use it in your solos
PART 2
Moving on, we will look at how you can use the Albert King Box to create an easy soloing framework you can use every time you improvise
PART 3
Here we will cover how you can use the box shape as a way of creating smooth connections all over the fretboard
PART 4
In this lesson we look at how Albert King and SRV use the box shape to build tension and momentum in their blues solos
PART 5
To round up our analysis of the Albert King Box, we will cover a few dos and don’ts to help you solo effectively, every time you play
PART 7
Here you will learn another opening style lick, that you can use every time you start a solo in the Albert King Box
PART 8
Here we will learn how to create licks which build tension in the Albert King Box, by resolving then on the b7 interval
PART 9
In this lesson we will look at a fast and furious lick in the style of SRV and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, which you can use to move across the fretobard
PART 10
In this final lick, we will look at a smooth way you can move into the Albert King Box from the first shape of the minor pentatonic scale
PART 11
In the final lesson of this course, you will learn the full solo that I play at the beginning of this course and how you can create similar ideas in your own improvisations
