COURSE OVERVIEW
Want to solo like SRV? Start here
Stevie Ray Vaughan is one of the greatest blues guitarists of all time.
His playing is raw, intense and fast – yet always rhythmically accurate and precise.
Trying to dissect Vaughan’s style to understand what makes it so effective is a real challenge for guitarists who want to add a bit of that SRV magic to their playing.
With so many different things to consider, it can be difficult to know where to begin.
In this course you’ll take the first steps to getting to grips with Vaughan’s style at a deep level.
You’ll learn one of the key minor pentatonic box shapes that Vaughan uses all of the time in his playing, and how you can use this box to create the kind of beautiful licks you hear in songs like “Texas Flood”, “Tightrope”, “Riviera Paradise” and many others.
What you will learn:
PART 1
To kick things off we will run through what the minor pentatonic scale is, and why it is so important in the blues.
PART 2
In this first lesson you will learn the Albert King Box – the 5 note pattern that SRV uses in many of his most iconic solos
PART 3
We’ll add an extra note into the box from the major pentatonic scale – bringing a warm and more upbeat flavour into the mix
PART 4
Time to go full “Texas Flood” mode! You’ll learn how to “bend stack”, and how you can use this to build momentum and create tension in your solos
PART 5
Learn how to add bursts of tension and bluesy spice to your licks by adding the blue note into the box shape
PART 6
Add a classic SRV lick to your repertoire, and create a smooth connection between the Albert King Box and the first shape of the minor pentatonic scale.

PART 7
You’ll recap all of the main steps covered throughout the course, and can learn the full solo that I play at the beginning, to give you ideas for your own improvisations

My story
I have played blues guitar for over 20 years and have loved blues music for just as long.
5 years ago – after getting complacent with my playing, I decided I wanted to push on and improve as a guitarist.
I started to document my journey and share tips on gear, practice and playing.
To my joy, that helped me turn into a full time Bluesman.
I have since gone on to work with hundreds of blues guitarists all over the world through the Blues Club and 1-2-1 coaching.
