Solos Of The Blues Greats
Learn the solos of your blues guitar heroes, as well as the techniques and concepts that make these solos so powerful
COURSE OVERVIEW
Solos Of The Blues Greats
Learning your favourite blues guitar solos and understanding what makes them so impactful is one of the most effective ways of developing as a player.
It will build your repertoire of licks and technique and deepen your skills as a musician. It will also help you to recreate the ideas of your favourite players and target them in your own playing.
Throughout this series of mini courses, you will learn the solos of your blues guitar heroes, as well as the concepts and techniques that make these solos so powerful.
Crucially, you will learn how to apply these concepts in your own playing, and improvise and solo in the same musical context.
What you will learn:
PART 1
In this first lesson I run through the structure of this course and what you can expect over the coming months, as new solos are added
PART 2
In this first lesson you will learn how ‘Comfortably Numb’ is constructed. You will understand which key the song is in, the chords that are used, and the impact this has on both of David Gilmour’s solos in the song.
PART 3
Before we dive into the solos, I will look at the gear that David Gilmour used to create the tone on the original track. I will also cover the gear that I used in the Happy Bluesman studio, and how you can recreate a similar sound to suit your setup and playing context.
PART 4
In this lesson you will watch a play through of the first solo, gain an understanding of how it is constructed and why it is so effective. You will also learn the key concepts that you can apply in your own playing.
PART 5
In this lesson you will watch a play through of the main solo in the song, gain an understanding of how it is constructed and why it is so effective. You will also learn the key concepts that you can apply in your own playing.

My story
I have played guitar for over 20 years and have loved blues music for just as long.
5 years ago – after getting complacent with my practice and playing, I decided I wanted to push on with my playing.
I started to document my journey and share tips on gear, practice and playing.
To my joy, that helped to turn me into a full time Bluesman.
I have since gone on to work with hundreds of blues guitarists all over the world through the Blues Club and 1-2-1 coaching.
